Tutoring
Private 1:1 tutoring is available for genetic counseling students targeted at exam preparation. These include board exams as well as exams that are part of your program's curriculum. Tutors are genetic counselors who took and performed well on the new version of the ABGC exam (August 2023 or later).
There will be an initial 30-minute meeting to help understand your needs and goals. We will then design an individualized curriculum to meet your needs. Some of these needs could include:
-
"I am having trouble understanding ______." (e.g. biostatistics, metabolic genetics, insurance etc.)
-
"I have previously not passed my board exam" and/or "I am very concerned that I will not pass my board exam."
-
"I would like someone to hold me accountable as I prepare for my exam."
-
"I would like to design a structured approach around preparing for my board exam."
Below are some of the topics that we offer tutoring for:
-
ABGC exam preparation and test-taking strategies
-

Biochemical genetics / inborn errors of metabolism
-
Embryology

Laboratory genetics (including cytogenetics, next-generation sequencing, and results interpretation)
